Recertification can assist a person in staying aware of technological procedures and the latest advances in the industry. Recertifying may also help a professional to secure employment, keep a job, and be promoted to higher employment positions.

Expiration

It is essential that individuals learn what they need to do to meet exam requirements, before current certification expires. People who do not do so will be required to repeat the first exam process completely. Another way to stay current on certification is to recertify by achieving the next level of certification.

The expiration for associate level, professional level, and entry level certification comes at the end of three years. To a person who has achieved associate level CCNA training, this means that recertification within three years after the last certification is required. CCT and CCENT are the two entry level certifications. Associate and professional levels of certification include a variety of options.

People who have achieved the expert level certifications have a two year period after the last certification, before they must recertify. The certifications at the expert level include the CCIE and CCDE certifications. Cisco expert level CCIE certifications include training in various things, such as wireless, security and collaboration.

A professional who has received Cisco architect certification has attained the CCAr certification. The CCAr is the highest certification achievable that is provided within the training system at Cisco. Recertification for a person of architect status must be achieved within five years.

Specialist certifications have a recertification deadline of two years. A wide array of of specialist certifications is available. Professionals may be certified as specialists in data center, collaboration, operating system hardware, video, and security.
